Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters that involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice extended beyond her legal career when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
