Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond the legal realm as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
